FAQ's

It seems like most people have a lot of the same questions when our trip comes up so hopefully we'll be able to answer a few here.

1. Why are we going: We have the rest of our lives to work but only a short window of time with our girls to share before they grow up and are off to college and on their own.  At the ages of 9 and 11 they are self-sufficient for the important stuff but haven't hit the teenage angst and don't mind being with us :)
2. How much does it cost: It is a bit of loaded question in that the price can vary widely from where and how you travel coupled with any other wide number of variables.  That said flights are by far the largest expense yet surprisingly not as much as you might guess.  Once on the ground the cost of a private apartment or rented room along with meals etc is actually less than being at home.  By being flexible with our timing and city choices we were able to maintain a manageable budget.
3. How do you pack:  Well we're still working on this one.  Our game plan is to pack for basically a ~10 day trip with regards to clothing etc.  We'll be using a slew of packing cubes to try to keep a semblance of organization.  We're looking to have 2 rolling duffle bags along with a day pack for each to use as carry-ons etc.  Fingers crossed!
4. What about our pets/house: Oreo will be well taken care of by a good friend whom will be staying at our house and keeping a watchful eye over things in our absence.
5. Where will you stay:  We're staying in a broad range of places ranging from a $15 dollar a night family room at a hostel to hotels and a resort over Callie's birthday.
